What is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is the ancient science of harmonising the natural life force energies called "Chi" within the environment.
The Ancient Chinese Masters of Feng Shui recognised that when man aligned himself with the naturally occurring forces of good energy in nature, he would experience 'good fortune' and when he aligned himself with disturbed, negative or stagnant energy, he would experience difficulty and obstacles. Therefore, the aim of Feng Shui is to harmonise the life force (within an environment) and the objective is to harness these enhanced energies so that they can flow favourably and increase, expanding the good fortune in people's lives.
In reality Feng Shui is based upon using the principles the Ancient Masters of Feng Shui observed and discovered thousands of years ago. These principles include the use of Feng Shui Astrology to harmonise the flow of Chi; the art of arrangement of objects within the environment; the organisation, grouping and aligning of people so that they can receive this increased positive energy from the environment.
Literally translated, Feng Shui means 'wind' and 'water' and it describes the way in which these subtle life force energies will flow within the environment to shape the land. However, even within the simplistic translation of 'wind' and 'water' there are deeper secrets to be known about the relationship between retaining and utilising positive life force energy.
The study of Feng Shui includes determining the form and shape within an environment, understanding how the life force distributes and travels, as well as the more intricate understandings of the Lo Pan compass and how time and space measurements will influence the environment. Then, the interpretation of Feng Shui incorporates proper alignment to the environmental forces as well as arrangement, placement, harmonising and re-balancing to create the best conditions for each person uniquely.
